The Spirit
After growing potatoes for supermarkets and then establishing the Tyrrells potato crisps empire, farmer and entrepreneur William Chase was becoming restless. On a trip to the US he chanced upon a boutique distillery making craft vodka from their home grown potatoes. Inspired by what he saw, he set up the Chase Distillery in Herefordshire. Having successfully launched Chase Vodka, the family turned their attention to gin, using the same raw spirit that goes into the vodka. The botanicals are stuffed into a pillowcase and placed in the still head where the flavours infuse into the vapours passing through. This method and their large combination of aromatic ingredients create a refreshing, floral gin. If only every farm shop was like theirs.
