The Wine
Brothers Victor and David Manzanos took over the family estate in 2010, after the premature death of their father Victor, another innovator. For a year or two the pair had to juggle studies (in economics and engineering) with running the estate. They had youth and energy on their side! They completed a new winery and have ambitious plans. Right from the start they employed the talented Borja Ripa as winemaker. This classic Gran Reserva is from a very good vintage. It comprises Tempranillo from 50 year old bush vines, plus Garnacha and Mazuelo, all well placed on poor soils on south facing slopes. In the glass that adds up to gloriously rich flavour from well ripened fruit with oaky complexity from up to six years in French and American oak.
