The Beer
With straight talking bitterness and easy drinking character, Loose Cannon IPA is exactly what you want from an English Pale Ale. It comes from Will Laithwaite’s Loose Cannon brewery, which opened in 2011 and re-established three centuries of brewing tradition in Abingdon (which seemed lost forever when Morland closed its doors for the last time 11 years earlier). If you’re ever in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, treat yourself to a guided tour – but be sure to book in advance! This classic IPA is best served gently chilled to fully appreciate its crisp hoppiness and refreshing bitter finish. Not a complex beer, it’s designed to be really easy drinking and at 5.4% slips down with a minimum of fuss. Perfect on its own at the end of the working day.
