The Wine
The miniscule Theale vineyard hardly compares to the vine clad hills and valleys of the Champagne region, but quality wise it most certainly does. Surprised? Well, the climate is quite similar, and we had another secret weapon in the form of a man dubbed “King of Fizz” by The Independent. Mike Roberts (RIP) enjoyed a stellar reputation. The trophy cabinet at his Ridgeview Estate in Sussex is fit to bursting and his wines are served to visiting dignitaries in Buckingham Palace. No surprise then that he managed to convert our top quality, hand tended grapes into something so magnificent. The first vintage won Gold and a place in the world’s Top 10 bubblies. The 2011 (a mere 150 half cases) is every bit as fine. Save for your next celebration.

"With a citrusy, honeyed nose, yet a sophisticated biscuity, buttery palate, this is perfectly lovely"
