The Wine
This terrific Sauvignon Blanc is grown on the slopes of the Western Cape overlooking Granger Bay towards Cape Town. Thys Louw is the sixth generation of his family to make wine in the region. He took over from his father, award winning winemaker Tienie Louw, in 2005. After his studies Thys gained valuable wine experience in Germany’s Rhine region before working with renowned cellar master Hermann Kirschbaum at South Africa’s Buitenverwachting estate. Style wise this wine sits midway between the Loire and New Zealand with lovely ripeness and elegance and plenty of green, citrusy aromas. It makes a most refreshing apéritif and goes well with a variety of dishes. Thys recommends you enjoy a glass with sea bass or barbecued swordfish skewers.
