This crisp and racy Trebbiano is made from the fruit of organically grown 30 to 40 year old vines. Furthermore, it’s from 2015 (even though we can’t say it on the label), an outstanding vintage in the Abruzzo which resulted in intense fruity wines.

The Wine
Stretching along Italy’s Adriatic coast, the Abruzzo boasts pretty coastal coves and dramatic landscapes of soaring mountain peaks, deep valleys and ancient castles. The region also offers deliciously approachable wines – the plump, creamy, plum-filled Montepulciano based reds and the crisp, citrusy Trebbianos. This Trebbiano is a tingly fresh addition to our list. It’s from the Farinelli estate, which promotes a traditional trellising system, ‘pergola abruzzese’. This ensures the grapes receive excellent exposure to the bright sunshine and so gain full ripeness. Taste for yourself with this lively white – brisk, lemony with candied fruit and melon hints. It makes a fine apéritif and goes well with fish, chicken and creamy pasta.

"Not normally a white wine drinker (prefer red) but this one was lovely, light and not at all acidic"
