The Wine
Jean-Christophe Granier is a passionate advocate of his small patch of southern France. He owns about 20 hectares of hardy, gnarled vines planted a few kilometres from the Cru Pic Saint Loup. Traditional varieties dominate in this region and Jean-Christophe works diligently to get the very best from them. He believes in minimal intervention, practising sustainable viticulture and rigorous pruning to inhibit yields in a region where the lack of water delivers a naturally concentrated harvest. The results are impressive. His Musardises is a complex, spicy red with plenty of vibrant acidity, balanced tannins and an abundance of juicy red fruit. Lovely on its own and a smart match for cassoulet, cold cuts or a rich meat or vegetarian casserole.
