The Wine
With such illustrious Cru Classé names as Pontet Canet, Calon Ségur, Château Talbot and Gruaud Larose (among others) calling on Edouard’s expertise, its clear he’s got a rare talent for winemaking – and this fine Médoc, produced in the superb 2009 vintage, is his labour of love. Edouard used equal portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for this wine, carefully selected from his 50-year-old vines – so you'll enjoy terrific concentration. Lovingly aged in oak barriques, it’s classic Left Bank Médoc in style – think rich cassis and blackcurrant with cedar hints – with those lovely silky tannins that mean it will age if you want it to. A fine centrepiece to a Sunday roast, it will show at its best if opened an hour or so before serving.
