The Wine
This rich, velvety red is an unusual blend of Sangiovese and Barbera. Top grapes in Italy, there isn’t much planted in Oz. What’s more, its vines are all planted on original rootstocks, which is rare anywhere in the world. Good for the wine? You bet! It results in extra richness and concentration. Canto di Lago – ‘song of the lake’ (the vineyard lies next to Lake Alexandrina) – is made by quality obsessed Ben Riggs. He’s winemaker at Zonte’s Footstep – a group of growers who pool resources to make first class wines using the best grapes possible. Although only established in 2003, they’ve won many awards and hold an ‘outstanding’ 5-Star rating in Halliday’s Wine Companion. Rich, ripe and generously curved, it’s ideal at your next barbie.

"Zonte’s Footstep wines are not ‘old world’, nor even ‘new world’, Zonte’s is out of this world!"
